During hot and humid summer months, wooden instruments will absorb water, causing the wood to expand or swell. Likewise, the wood will dry out during cold, dry winter months, leading to shrinkage and cracks that can affect the instrument's playability.

To keep your instrument in great shape, avoid extreme temperature changes, store it in a case when not in use or during travel, and steer clear of direct sunlight, windows, A/C units, or heating vents.
